At Spengler Industries, we are currently working on an exciting project in West Virginia featuring green painted galvalume shingles and panels for both the roof and dome. Here’s a straightforward look at our installation process, including some tips and insights from our community.
Securing Panels with Vice Grips and Zip Ties
One important aspect of our installation process is ensuring the panels are securely fastened. A common question we received amongst professionals when we posted these images was:
“Zip ties on the Vice grips in case they pop off so they don’t damage the panels? Also, what type of Vice grips you guys use with the red tightening bolt?”
They then posted some pictures of their work for our evaluation:
We responded: We recommend using original Vice Grips with an over-center feature to prevent pop-offs. The zip ties are added to keep the short 2x4s from sliding. If you use longer toe-boards, they won’t slide as easily, reducing the need for zip ties.
Choosing the Right Tools
Another follower asked:
“Are you using the C clamp style vise grips or the 2 prong welding ones?”
We prefer the original Irwin Vice-Grip version for its reliability and effectiveness.
By sharing these practical tips and techniques, we aim to help professionals improve their installation processes. Our commitment to using the best tools and methods ensures that our installations are both visually appealing and durable.
This project in West Virginia showcases our dedication to quality in every installation. We hope these insights are helpful for your own projects. Stay tuned for more updates as we progress with this work.
