Our engineering backgrounds allow us to assist installers with technically complex configurations and challenges posed by weather. When you have Spengler at your side, you can be assured that your new and historic builds never have to be “re-restored.”

Why Should You Choose Terne Roofing?

If you’re looking for an impeccable building solution for rural, urban, or light industrial areas, you’ve come to the right place. On a practical level, terne can be processed even at low temperatures and has the lowest thermal expansion. But more importantly, our terne roofing will impress even the pickiest client.

Aesthetic Versatility

Tin comes with a slight sheen from the mill but will patinate over time. This charming, weathered, soft matte gray looks even more elegant as the years pass. However, if you want something more vibrant, we can paint our terne products any color you desire.

A Perfect Combination

Tin combines well with other metals, enhancing their corrosion resistance and strength, making it ideal for long-lasting building solutions. Its solderability makes it easy to use and compliments other building products and accessories.

Environmentally Friendly

If you prioritize green building, terne stands out as one of your top material options. Comprising about 85% recycled stainless steel, it is 100% recyclable. Its extraordinary lifespan means that it is a product you can plan with permanence.

Turn the Heads of Your Clients

Crafted from stainless steel, our terne roofing products offer a practical, yet modern roofing solution. From historic restorations to innovative rainscreen options, you’ll be surprised by how versatile it can be. Terne excels in environments prone to condensation, effectively eliminating common moisture-related issues that can lead to structural damage. Who wouldn’t want a low maintenance roof that’s easy to clean and looks even better over time? Terne roofing seamlessly incorporates drainage solutions and accessory pieces. This cost-effective, stunning, adaptable roofing material will turn heads, in more ways than one.

Let’s Get Down to the Details

Terne comes in your choice of coil or sheet. We are the material processor, so you may order the material by itself and do your own forming. Or, you may elect to have us fabricate or form your systems, panels or pieces. Just let us know how we can best help you achieve your objectives.

Terne is Available in the Following:

  • Sheets: 1,160mm (45.6 inches) x 10 feet
  • Coils: Standard is 20 inch, but custom widths available upon request
  • All come in 26 gauge.

You’ll be surprised how much everyone on the design/build team loves the material! Just make sure to install it with gloves and you won’t have problems with fingerprints. Other than that, you’ll find terne to be incredibly easy to handle.

Showing You a More Colorful Side of Terne

Surprisingly, tin doesn’t like to be painted, but a lot of historic ordinances require it. Faced with this conundrum, we partnered with Sherwin-Williams for several years to develop the best methods to paint terne. We found the solution that works wonders!

We provide specific recommendations to effectively remove any existing paint, debris or residue from the surface of the roof, allowing us a clean canvas to paint.
Your roof needs a good scrubbing! We provide a suitable cleaning solution to remove any lingering dirt or grime that would impede the painting process.
Your contractors will schedule a painting day when the weather cooperates at a specific temperature. They’ll be sure to mask off surrounding areas to prevent overspray or accidental paint application.
