Big projects are won or lost at the connections, and custom mounting brackets are often where those connections start. The finished edge everyone sees is only as straight, as strong and as dry as the parts holding it up.
When a building calls for something no catalog carries, Spengler Industries designs and builds custom mounting brackets in our own shop. Each one is made for its exact place on the building. Here is how we approach that work, from the drawing to the finished edge.
When Standard Brackets Run Out
Off-the-shelf brackets assume a simple building. They expect the same edge, the same angle and the same spacing from one end of the roof to the other.
Large architectural projects rarely work that way. Slopes change. Framing steps in and out. A long, crisp edge has to stay perfectly straight even when the structure behind it does not. In these cases, forcing a stock part to fit means shims, field cutting and guesswork. Those are exactly the things that show up later as wavy lines, loose connections and leaks.
A custom mounting bracket solves the problem where it starts. It is shaped to the structure it attaches to and to the finish it carries, so the edge comes out right the first time.
Designed and Built in Our Shop

Every bracket starts with the building. We work from the architect’s intent and the actual structure, then design a bracket that does three jobs at once: attach securely to the framing, hold the finish exactly where the design wants it, and carry the loads the edge will see over its life.
The brackets are fabricated from galvanized steel in our Salt Lake City shop. Each assembly is formed, then riveted together for strength. Pre-punched attachment tabs mean installers drill less in the field and land fasteners where the engineering expects them.

On complex buildings, no two locations are quite the same. So every bracket is numbered for its exact position. Brackets sharing a number are identical. A change in the building means a new number and a new shape.

Proven in a Mock-Up Before It Ships

Before a full run goes out the door, we build a mock-up in the shop. The bracket is bolted to a test deck and fitted with the actual finish components it will carry.
The mock-up answers the questions that are expensive to answer on a lift: Does the finish sit where the design says it should? Do the angles line up? Can an installer reach every fastener? Fixing a detail here costs an afternoon. Fixing it on site can cost weeks.
On Site: Numbered, Placed, Finished

On the job, the numbering pays off. Installers match each bracket to its marked location, fasten it through the pre-punched tabs and move on. The result is a long run of brackets that holds a perfectly true line, even where the structure behind it shifts.

Once the finish goes on, the brackets disappear. What remains is a clean, straight edge that looks effortless. That is the point. The best custom mounting brackets are the ones nobody notices, because the edge they carry simply works for decades.
Bring Us In Early
Custom brackets deliver the most value when they are part of the design conversation from the start. If your project has a demanding edge, an unusual geometry or a detail no catalog covers, talk to us before the drawings are final. We are a one-stop shop for the whole metal building envelope, from the hidden structure to the finished surface.
